Anna Johnson

On last Sunday afternoon, January 23rd, occurred the funeral of Mrs. Anna Johnson who died on Thursday, January 20 at her home near the Swedish cemetery at Farmersville. A large number of friends of the deceased met at the Lutheran church and listened to an eloquent sermon by Rev. G. E. Hemdahl of Paxton. The word of the scripture was read from the 20th capter of Matthew. The prayers and the services were very impressive.
Mrs. Johnson and her husband had been living on their 40 acre farm 43 years. For many years the deceased had never been away from her home. The last last few years she had been very feeble and poorly. Her bereaved husband was her comfort and assistance in her sickness. They allowed no assistance from their neighbors in their need, but always to be by themselves alone in their old home.
Mrs. Anna Johnson was born June 2, 1826, in Alfta soeken, Elfkarhed, Helsingland, Sweden. She came to America in 1846 coming to Bishop Hill, Illinois. She was married to Peter Johnson in 1863 and moved to Farmersville in 1867 and had been living on the same farm ever since. She died at the age of 83 years 7 months 18 days.
