The funeral services of Mrs. Laura Godey French of Hillside, Arizona, were held last Sat. afternoon. The services were held at the home of the deceased's mother, Mrs. Anna Godey, on West Orleans Street, at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Edna Larson, accompanied on the piano by Miss Beda Skog, sang sympathetically a beautiful hymn. Rev. A. P. Westerberg read portions of 1 Thess. and 1 Cor. and preached in English, using for his text Acts 21:14, "The will of the Lord be done." His theme was "Patient Submission to the Will of God."
Mrs. Laura Godey French was born in Chicago, Ill., July 19, 1872. About twenty-four years ago her health broke down from a severe cold and ever since she was forced to live in the west and southwest. On the 28th day of June, 1909, she was married to Clarence French at Alburquerque, New Mexico. For five years Mr. and Mrs. French resided at Phoenix, Arizona. Four years ago they removed to Hillside, Arizona. The several changes of residence were made on account of Mrs. French's poor health. She passed away suddenly Monday morning, July 22, at the age of 46 years and 3 days, leaving her husband, Clarence French, of Hillside, Arizona, her mother, Mrs. Anna Godey, of Paxton, one brother, William Godey of Chicago, and numerous other near kin and relatives.
The service at the house closed with another solo by Miss Edna Larson.
Interment took place in the Farmersville Cemetery, nine miles southeast of the City, where a brief funeral rite was conducted. At these services Miss Dahl and Mrs. Victor Swanson, both of the Farmersville settlement, rendered an appropriate hymn.
